Buenos Dias Friends,
As this time last year was pretty rough, my mom decided that we needed to get away from it all. We packed our bags and headed to Puerto Morelos, which is a little port town about 20 minutes south of Cancun, Mexico. The goal was to relax to the fullest extent, so we chose an all inclusive to make the experience as easy as possible. The vacation is coming to a close now with only two days left and man has it been a blast. It’s been wonderful not having to stress over anything, but it’s given me lots of time for reflexion.
What is the purpose of working our whole lives away from a week of vacation every 5 years?
To me that sounds like an equation that isn’t balanced.
I’ve come to the realization that the lifestyle I lead in Vancouver isn’t something that is sustainable for me. I work my ass off just to not die every day. We’re all stuck in this capitalism cycle that demands us to exchange our health and wellbeing for the good of a corporation or for money.
So where does this thought bring me and what can I do to change my situation?
As you all probably know, I was living in Montreal for the start of the year and found it really difficult to make any kind of money. But I think maybe I was doing MTL wrong as most people there cherish their personal time over their work time. I was so concerned about making money and paying off debt that I stressed myself out for no reason.
Therefore, I’ve decided to spend the next six months in Vancouver hustling to pay off my outstanding debt that way I can fully be free to enjoy myself in whatever my next move is. A part of me is thinking of giving MTL another chance, but I still haven’t decided for sure if that’s what I want to do.
The big takeaway is that I’m not living for my own wellbeing, which is something I’m going to change.
Thanks for reading. 🙂
